Bank Healthcare Assistant – St Julias Hospice

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of high-quality specialist in-patient palliative care to patients and their families within our in-patient unit.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference, providing hands-on, holistic, person-centred care in a supportive hospice environment. Guided by our values of compassion, togetherness and integrity, you will work closely with nurses and the wider team to ensure every patient receives dignified, respectful and individualised care. While experience in palliative care or a healthcare setting is desirable, we welcome applications from individuals who are caring, committed, and eager to develop their skills in this field.

The role involves supporting patients with personal care, comfort, and daily living needs, as well as offering emotional support to patients and their families. You will be an integral part of the team, helping to maintain a calm, safe and compassionate environment at all times.

The role includes working nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

We warmly welcome informal visits to the ward so you can experience our environment and meet the team. If you would like to arrange a visit or have any questions about the role, please contact our Ward Manager, Claire Clark, on 01726 65711, who will be happy to help.

“My friend was nursed so well, and had every attention during his last days.  He twice asked me; who is paying for all this? and couldn’t believe it was free.  What a wonderful world it would be if everyone had access to this standard of care.”
